Good food served hot. Pleasant surrounding s. Well worth a visit if passing.
Nice country pub, with great atmosphere. We had lunch and a few drinks on our trip from Liverpool to Nottingham.I had a lovely soup, my family had steak sandwiches..very nice place for a lunch stop..
Nice food but expensive drinks and food could be cheaper too. Just over 10 for 2 soft drinks and a pint. Big portions for mains and desserts and the food is served quickly. Food is nice but it is nothing special, just basic pub food. Serves food all day which is a bonus but I would like better quality food for the price. Decor is very dated and toilets very old and fusty. I wouldn't rush back but I wouldn't avoid it either.
The positives are the place is dog friendly and the pub has some character about it. The fire was warm and it was a welcome break from walking.The food was ok but nothing to shout about. The menu also wasn't very extensive. It was typical pub food (which is not a bad thing), but it did limit what you could have.The pub might be different in peak season, but it felt like it was winding down at this point.
