It's ok. It's got a ok atmosphere. The bar staff when I went were good. It can be very busy when there's something on at the opera House. I ate that maybe 5 or 6 times. The last time our family ate there we all said we wouldn't go back the food was just to average. It could be a really special place in the heart of Buxton next to the gardens on the doorstep of the opera House but it just is a little bland. Vanilla. Not even John Major grey because let's face it even Edwina Currie found him a bit interesting.
Good location in Buxton. Nice and big so lots of space. Shows sports too.
The bar itself looks nice and cozy, drink offers are great! Some staff members are friendlier than others. Hot apple pie I tried would have been uneatable if there was no ice cream. I'll probably go back for drinks.
We came here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and took advantage of the meal deal. Two sandwiches and two pints 14 and food was reasonable. Came here on a Friday evening and paid 35 for two glasses of wine fish and chips and chicken burger and chips. Very small portions. Batter was chewy not crispy. Very disappointed. Will be not be back for an evening meal. Finally this is a dog friendly pub when we ask for water for the dog we was told sorry all bowls have been stolen. Not our problem
Excellent pub grub. We dropped in on a Monday lunchtime so it was quiet (but still a decent number of customers). Quiet atmosphere, good selection of drinks and typical greene king pub food fare; piping hot, good meat and crispy chips. A good spot for a burger and a pint
