Buxton has so much to offer and is a wonderful tourist destination.It is good to see visitors from across the country and from overseas.The shopkeepers and staff work very hard to make our trips here a pleasure.Sadly, this hasn't prevented M&S from future closure. The building will likely become an outlet for fast fashion.Santander is now closing too.A Champs de Elyse (Parisian) style pavement cafe, set up in the under- used central open space would help breath new life into this covered precinct.The hospitality and other students would have direct work experience if the University ran this from the empty units on commercial lines.Buxton could become a specialist food destination.There is a large "uni" student population passing through the town, with pale complexions and 3 years debt. We don't encourage or support our young enough in England.They like me will have a place in their student hearts for Buxton which is good for the town and this centre.Investment in free and "friendly" parking however, would be a start towards saving this high street from decline.Greedy commercial rates and rent are bound to drive away jobs and services.Buxton doesn't have to die.
Nice little town. Aldi not far. Lots of charity shops and an old style sweet shop with gluten free/vegetarian/vegan/dairy free sweets
Partially occupied shopping precinct, no public toilets, two units have been empty for several years. The best shop for me is Evans, which sells large size, wide fit ladies shoes.The precinct is clean and security guards are in place.
The most practical shopping area in Buxton. There you can find creative shops, paper stores, clothing shops, a healthy products store, Waitrose with all sorts of different products every week. It's definitely the best practical shopping spot in town.
Charity shops galore and a high Street that harks back to days gone by. A truly wonderful day out. Even the buskers had me stopping and listening for a while. Talented for sure. Good parking with easy access by public bus from Manchester Airport (quite a long ride but dirt cheap and beautiful scenery on the journey). Lots of places to eat and if course the shopping is varied from the aforementioned charity shops to the independent traders and your high street chains like The Edinburgh Woolen Mill. Bring lots of money because you'll find your shopping bags filling up quickly here!
