What A Fantastic Restaurant. Very Charming And Welcoming Staff With The Most Wonderful Menu Twinned With A Superb Wine List. It Is Central Buxtons Only Fine Dining Establishment. The Price Is Very Agreeable For The Love That The Chef Puts Into The Dish. The Fish Gets To The Port At 4am & Is On Your Plate That Evening, The Vegetables Locally Sourced As Well As The Meat & Even The Cheeses. The Setting Is Over Two Floors With Decedent Lighting And A Neutral Colour. This Is A Gem Sat Next To My Favourite Bar 53 Degrees. If You Want To Wow The Love Of Your Life You Have Found Just The Place To Do It.
Excellent evening all round. Service was attentive and polite, food was delicious. We had the festive menu, I had the Japanese chicken to start, which was wonderful. Then the Christmas dinner, which was also delicious. Veggies were cooked just how I like them, carrots, cauli, sprouts, extra roasties and gravy. My friend had the avocado salad and then Hake to follow, she said they were both excellent too. We both had Christmas pudding, mince pies and coffee to follow. All hot, all beautifully presented, all very tasty. Highly recommended!.
It's OK but when a restaurant employs young inexperienced staff you really don't enjoy a fine dining experience. The menu is wholesome but not fine. Wine selection is adequate but some very cheap wines being sold at over 25 a bottle leaves a bad taste because you know they are heavily overpriced just because they are in the restaurant. We came here several years ago and feel that it has declined rather than improved. Also, there is something rather unimpressive about being seated downstairs in a windowless basement.We might try it again in a few years time but we aren't rushing back.
